Hello, I go by the name “Lady Landlord” on this website and I’m the lady of the house. You can view all of my entries by clicking the “Written by Lady Landlord” link in the categories section on the right side of the main page. I’ll be posting little stories here and there when I have time, so keep an eye out for my updates between my husbands entries.
There is a doormat I have seen before that says something about how “Every third salesperson who knocks on this door will be shot on site!” then, below it says, “The second one just left”. It is stories like the one I’m about to tell you, that makes me wish we could post such a sign in our building.

We live in a secure building with a no soliciting policy. Many of our tenants live here just for this very reason. It is safe, quite, and you don’t have to deal with being harassed by door-to-door salespeople. One day, one of our tenants called us to tell us someone was trying to sell magazines at her door. Now and again this happens because someone will allow someone to slip in to the building behind him or her. So my husband went to go and tell the person to leave. I was babysitting at the time so I stayed in our apartment with the baby but watched and listened through our front door surveillance camera. When my husband asked the salesperson to leave, she through a huge fit and told him he was not being fair and finally with the persistence of my husband she loudly and unwilling stormed out of the building.
I watched from our window as she stormed down the block. I went out to tell my husband she had left… Not even 3 minutes later, she was back in the entryway yelling and cussing at me telling me to come out and fight her. She even told me to bring out my baby so she could beat both me and my baby up. By this time my husband was standing beside me and so I went back in the house to watch on the surveillance camera again while my husband went to speak to her. When my husband asked her what her problem with me was she told him I stared out the window at her as she walked away and that the way I stared at her was saying that I thought I was better then her. She told my husband that she wanted to prove she was tougher then me, so she came back to fight me.
Now keep in mind I never spoke one word to her and only peeked out the window for about 10 seconds as she walked down the street and out of sight. My husband told her she needed to leave because she was trespassing and that if she did not leave he would call the police she told him to go ahead because she wanted to place charges on me for staring at her. My husband asked her what law I was breaking, and she said it was her right to not have people stare at her. So my husband said he would go call the police. As soon as he came in (making sure the secure door closed behind him) I saw her run like crazy from the entryway and then run down the street. Never to be seen or heard from again.
Just goes to show you that the crazy people you have to deal with aren’t always your own tenants, and that people now a days are willing to fight a person regardless of if they are wearing glasses or even holding a baby for that matter.

Wow! What a crazy lady! I don’t even want to know what “magazines” she was trying to sell. I wonder if she acts like this all the time. I feel sorry for the poor sap that would be married to her. *shivers*
LOL!
She probably has a subscription to Monthly Maniac.
I think something in the entry way makes people crazy. I can remember quite a few confrontations in there. I am glad no one was hurt.
Wow, I am glad that she went away. I hope that you are always careful,
and able to keep the crazies away…..
Very interesting topic, I will bookmark your site to check if you write more in the future. Thanks again, Lotta Blackamore ~ Flyttst
